About the Item
Antique French Louis XVI marble top step-front buffet brings to life the classical style which has enamored those who appreciate fine design and furnishings for thousands of years! The architecture is stately, with a subtle stepped-out center door flanked by two side doors to create the main casework. The cabinet doors are framed by boldly carved spiral ribbon motif on each cornerpost. The outboard doors feature cubic parquet creating an intriguing three dimensional illusion, framed by tailored molding. The same molding was used to frame the center door adornment, which consists of a full panel carved in bas relief with flowers, olive branches, swags, ribbon, and an oval bordering. The bold base below follows the contour of the casework above, and is supported by four turned feet. Atop the cabinets appear three tailored drawers, each fitted with cast bronze bale pulls, and atop the drawers, a luxuriously veined marble top contoured and beveled to follow the casework design, providing amazing carefree elegance!
