About the Item

A study in poised elevation, this mid-century modern Italian sideboard appears to hover—its mass of richly figured cocobolo palissander suspended delicately on a skeletal iron base. The visual rhythm is immediate: the flame-like grain of the wood flows across the front in mirrored symmetry, evoking marquetry in motion. Its form is pure, architectural—resolutely modern yet deeply rooted in natural opulence. Attributed to an Italian workshop in the spirit of Gianfranco Frattini and Vittorio Dassi, this piece reflects the era’s mastery of material contrast: luxurious hardwoods refined into minimalist forms, supported by linear metal structures with industrial grace. The silhouette nods to Milanese rationalism, where proportion, precision, and purity of surface take precedence. Constructed in cocobolo palissander—a prized tropical rosewood known for its dramatic veining and deep lustre—the sideboard’s seamless façade conceals ample storage. The edges are softly rounded; the integrated hand pulls carved directly into the top rail exemplify the unity of function and form. It rests on a pair of black lacquered iron V-legs, which echo the postwar fascination with weightlessness and modular geometries. Wear consistent with age and use. Meticulously preserved by Jada to maintain its structural integrity while honoring its original patina. This vintage Italian credenza makes a statement of confident restraint. Sculptural yet subtle, it lends gravitas to interiors—from minimalist spaces to richly layered environments seeking a touch of mid-century sophistication. Available for private acquisition. Inquiries from discerning collectors are welcome.
