About the Item

An impressive and high quality French 19th century Louis XV st. Tulipwood, Exotic Wood, Ormolu and Rouge Royale marble buffet. The buffet is raised by four cabriole legs with top scrolled acanthus leaf designed Ormolu mounts and wrap around Ormolu sabots. The front has two central deep drawers with a quarter veneered Tulipwood design depicting a richly detailed floral marquetry of swaging garlands above a basket of flowers hanging from a bow. The two drawers are flanked by quarter veneered doors on each side. The left doors open to reveal eight drawers and the right opens to two original interior shelves. Above are three drawers decorated with an Ormolu keyhole escutcheon. At the top lays the original thick and mottled Rouge Royal marble top. All original gilt throughout.
