About the Item
A handsome and high quality French early 19th century 1st Empire period flamed Mahogany and Ormolu buffet. The two door buffet is raised by block supports below the straight flamed Mahogany frieze and flanked by palmette designed Ormolu plinths leading up to Ormolu capitals with winged griffins on both sides of the eternal flame. The two interlocking doors display exceptional butterfly veneered flamed Mahogany panels showcase the stunning wood grain. Each door is decorated with the same Ormolu keyhole escutcheon and opens to reveal a single shelf and the original top to bottom lock. Above is a mottled band following all sides of the cabinet below the two top drawers with Ormolu circular pulls and below the thick black marble top.
