An ornately painted Italian wood console chest with faux-marble top from the 19th century. This antique buffet from Italy features a shapely front with bowed mid section flanked within curvy recessed sides, with a slightly overhanging top which mimics the shape beneath. The case houses two doors at front, which opens to reveal a shelf for storage within. The cabinet is painted and trimmed with four panels, each featuring rococo style accents along their inner framed portions, and center panels have a male figure and female figure, each within their own panel and seated with umbrella raised above their head. A scrolling acanthus leaf and foliage motif are painted to adorn the skirting. This piece is raised nicely upon bracketed feet.
