About the Item

A most handsome and impressive pair of Italian 18th century, two door, two drawer walnut buffets, from Northern Italy. Each buffet is raised by a unique and most decorative mottled rectangular base below a beautiful carved foliate band. At the center are two door which open to reveal one shelf and the original hardware. Each door displays impressive carved family crest set within a recessed panel with carved rosettes. The doors are flanked by finely carved bearded men with a large acanthus leaf and elegant scrolled movement. At the sides are carved recessed panels with fine foliate rosettes. At the frieze are the drawers with two turned pulls and mirrored circular patterns, separated by block reserves. The rectangular top showcases the warm walnut grain and displays an elegant carved border.
