About the Item
Japanese antique wooden cabinet box manufactured circa 1840s-1860s (late Edo period) estimate from the style
conditions.
Made with traditional wood joinery without metal fastener.
The structure
joinery techniques are more elaborate than similar type of cabinet box from later era, no major damages and the lid opens
closes smoothly.
The inside is still clean.
Also, Deep, matted black color comes not only from the layers of persimmon tannin (kakishibu)
burnt pine ink, as well as deepened by smoke from the fireplace for years.
Can be used as storage box, display stand, also as a bedside table or coffee table, since the top is flat.
It's still durable enough for actual use.
