About the Item
Antique bridal cabinet dating from around 1750-1775 in Franconia, southern Germany. Its heavy, weathered character and original paintings give it a stunning appearance. Both the cabinet's design and the painting are simple and primitive, yet authentic and a typical example of regional folk art. The cabinet is painted a soft blue and decorated with flowers and C-scrolls.
The cabinet has been completely inspected and professionally restored, with an eye for originality and character. The construction is solid, the painting is worn but preserved, and the patina has been retained. The crest has also been replaced at some point, although this was done some time ago. The interior consists of a shelf and a rod. The cabinet can be locked with the original, working lock. Old, sporadic woodworm traces have been checked and treated.
