About the Item
This is the 1920s - 1930s Swedish Grace inlay cabinet attributed Carl Bergsten.
It comes with a top veneered in dark stained birch decorated with a well-marked molding in both straight and curved shapes. Just like the top board, it’s made of birch.
The legs are something else! A very rare design shaped like an upside-down cone with dark stained protruding rims.
Sides and doors are veneered in elm and the lower part has a stained border in alternating light and dark, crowned with a masur birch intarsia decor in graceful lines.
There are two sections for storage. To the left there are two removable shelves and on the right side one removable shelf and two drawers. The entire interior is veneered in stained birch.
The lock works and one key is included.

Carl Bergsten, born in 1879 in Norrköping, was a Swedish architect, designer and professor of architecture.
In 1903 he graduated from the Royal Academy of Arts in Stockholm and the following year, in 1904, he started his own studio, which he ran until his death in 1934.
Carl Bergsten was very talented and worked in several areas. Partly architecture, where he designed many famous buildings, entire environments and interiors, and partly designing furniture and fabrics.
In 1913, Bergsten won with his competition proposal the battle for Liljevalch's art gallery in Stockholm, which was built between 1914–1917.
Today it is considered one of the finest examples of, and also the breakthrough for, modernist Swedish architecture.
In 1917, Carl Bergsten took over the responsibility from David Blomberg for NK's, Nordiska Kompaniet's, furniture department and was its manager until 1921.
The Swedish pavilion for the World Exhibition in Paris in 1925 was designed by Carl Bergsten and became his most outstanding work.
The most important of his works during the 1920s are completely characterized by Swedish 1920s classicism. That style attracted great international attention, precisely through the Paris exhibition, and was subsequently called Swedish Grace.
In 1928, three years after the success in Paris, Carl Bergsten was appointed chief architect for the interior of M/S Kungsholm.

- Condition:Repaired: At some point over the years an unrelated keyhole cuff was fitted. It has now been removed but the nails have left three small marks. Wear consistent with age and use. This is a very stable 100 years old cabinet not far from excellent. To describe the size of the storage space, you need to know the door blades measure: High 103 cm Wide 64 cm.
