About the Item

An exquisite antique mid 19th century Dutch cabinet or cupboard in the renaissance style, crafted from the finest rosewood veneers on solid oak. Moulded top cornice, above a frieze of three carved lion masks, the two central doors with deep panels with original key and working lock, opening to reveal a shelved interior with a pair of drawers, flanked by in high relief grape and vine carvings, above a pair of drawers, standing on two front bun feet. These cabinets served functional purposes and doubled as works of art, safeguarding valuable possessions such as linens and silverware. Superb quality with a lovely warm patina to the rosewood. The dimensions are: Height: 190cm (74.8in) Width: 185cm (72.8in) Depth: 67cm (26.4in)

Impressive 17th Century Dutch Walnut on Solid Oak Cupboard

An impressive, unique and monumental late 17th century Dutch oak and walnut cupboard or kussenkast. Made of walnut on solid oak. The architectural shaped moulded cornice with shaped frieze. Above two doors with geometrically rectangular panels set with moulded cornices, flanked by square pilasters with carved capitals, above a set of three lion’s masks carvings. Above another set of larger doors with rectangular panels set with moulded cornices. The lower section has two drawers with original wooden knob handles, seated on the five original period ball feet. The interior comprises the original oak shelves. The sides also have rectangular panels with moulded cornices. Original 17th century keys and working locking hardware. Original oak panelled back.
