About the Item

Cabinet hand-made in the Jacobean style in the UK in the early 1800s by incorporating period 17th century elements. Although small in size this cabinet is most definitely a very decorative piece that can provide a lot of storage while taking a limited footprint. The piece features a single large cabinet with a single door towering over a shelf. The top is made of two oak boards with a molded edge on three sides, making this a piece that will need to be placed against a wall. While the sides of the case are made of flat inset panels framed by flat molding, the front is very ornate and features geometrical and floral hand-carvings. Below the case we find two hand-turned columns resting of square feet. A single chamfered board was placed in the bottom apron to create a shelf which gives the piece a much lighter overall look. This is a neat little piece of furniture rich in details and character. The bleached oak shows beautiful grain and the hand-carvings create a gorgeous contrast of chiaroscuro, giving the cabinet a lot of depth and making it absolutely one of a kind.
