About the Item

Elegant Swedish neoclassical revival cabinet from the 1930s, inspired by the early 19th-century Karl Johan (Swedish Empire) style. This impressive piece combines clean Scandinavian lines with refined neoclassical detailing. The façade features beautifully patterned veneer work arranged in geometric diamond motifs, typical of high-quality 1930s craftsmanship. A continuous band of black-lacquered panels runs along the upper and lower sections, accented with finely cast gilt-bronze mounts depicting classical ram’s heads and scrolling motifs, a hallmark of the Empire aesthetic. The upper section opens to reveal spacious shelving, while the middle row includes three drawers with original hardware. The lower section is designed as an open display area, framed by fluted pilasters that emphasize the cabinet’s architectural presence. Executed in warm-toned wood (likely mahogany, birch, or flame birch veneer), the piece has a balanced contrast between natural wood grain and ebonized elements. This cabinet is a striking decorative statement—equally suitable for use as a bookcase, bar cabinet, or display piece in a living room, dining room, or entrance hall. A notable example of Sweden’s high-quality neoclassical revival production from the early 20th century.
