About the Item

A beautifully presented Antique English Rosewood Gun Cabinet from the 19th century, a stunning piece that embodies sophistication and the elegance of English gentry style. This remarkable cabinet features double glass-panelled doors at the top and solid wooden doors at the bottom, seamlessly blending functionality with exquisite design. The cabinet showcases a striking contrasting ebonised black interior adorned with luxurious green felt lining, emulating the traditional English country house aesthetic. The curved pelmet top is complemented by Corinthian flanked pillars, leading gracefully to an understated bottom skirt. Throughout, you’ll find polished brass hardware and solid brass castors discreetly hidden beneath, enhancing both functionality and style. A traditionally constructed piece constructed primarily from pine with panelled back structure, the black stained ebonised interior elegantly contrasts with a rich rosewood veneer, showcasing a superb colour tone and the lustrous grain of the rosewood. The original glass reflects light beautifully, adding to the cabinet’s overall charm. Inside, the cabinet has been designed to accommodate six guns, with designated slots for the stock butt to rest securely in the shelf holsters. The upper slotted shelf is adjustable, allowing for flexibility to suit your needs. The piece is of excellent craftmanship, most probably adapted from a glazed cabinet by the original estate cabinet maker, adding a touch of history to its legacy. Condition: The antique gun cabinet is in very good sturdy condition, exhibiting some age-related time-worn patina that adds character. There are minor losses to the veneer at the bottom of both sides of the skirt, which have been stained at some point in its life. Additionally, a couple of daylight splits can be found in the back, along with a small one on the pelmet. Despite these imperfections, the cabinet undeniably retains its classic and elegant look. This Antique 19th Century English Rosewood Gun Cabinet is a wonderful addition for those seeking a hunters display piece that perfectly fits the classic charm of an English country manor.
