This is an antique drawing room cabinet. A French, burr walnut and chestnut buffet in Neoclassical taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1850. Exceptional provincial craftsmanship with a striking Neoclassical appearance Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout Trio of quality timbers in Burr Walnut, Chestnut and Oak Each providing fine grain interest and rich caramel hues Stout Chestnut plinth top with wide tiered edge, ideal for display purposes Single, wide drawer across the apron with dual field panel fascia Opens with fascinating turned pendant drop handles set upon brass backplates Inset, brass lined lock — in working order and operated with the main cabinet key Cabinet doors with panel finish, intersected with a Corinthian column motif to centre Superb pilasters frame the cabinet with relief carved floral swag motif Interior presented as a pair of shelves with graduated height Standing upon a quartet of squat, disc shaped bun feet This is a wonderful antique drawing room cabinet, of superior craftsmanship and material choice.
