About the Item
An exceptional two-section chest from the Kyushu region, crafted from solid kiri (paulownia) wood with a warm, time-worn patina that highlights its fine grain. Retaining its original hand-forged iron hardware—including warabite-style handles, decorative corner brackets, and lock plates—it also features an elaborate interior safe secured with pierced and engraved detailing. Designed for both function and versatility, its symmetrical arrangement of drawers and compartments provides generous storage, while its refined craftsmanship and minimalist elegance exemplify the enduring sophistication of Japanese design.
