About the Item
Original painted pine bridal cabinet dating from 1821. This cabinet is simply designed but beautifully painted in a reddish-brown color with religious and floral decorations in the panels. The original paint is heavily worn, giving it a very distinctive appearance. Considering its age, this example is still in good condition, although some traces of old woodworm can be seen, which have naturally been treated. Furthermore, the cabinet shows many old repairs, as one might expect with a piece of furniture of this age. For example, some of the moldings and the front legs have been replaced at some point. The cabinet still has its original interior layout, with two shelves on the left and only coat hooks on the right. Shelves could easily be added here. It was once customary to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. All our bridal cabinets have been inspected and restored where necessary, while retaining their characteristic appearance. This example comes from Southeast Germany.

- Condition:Replacements made: Feet and part of the backside. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. Although the item displays signs of use and beautifully weathered paint, it has been thoroughly inspected and is ready for daily use, all while preserving its unique character.
