About the Item
Exceptional antique bridal cabinet from 1769. The design of this piece is very primitive and simple, as is the painting. The whole is finished with a faux-wood painting, and the panels feature a tree of life and the date: 1769. This piece of furniture comes from southern Germany, specifically Franconia. Naturally, there are minor signs of wear, although the cabinet is still in good condition considering its age. The cabinet's interior consists of a shelf and coat hooks. More shelves can easily be added if desired. Unfortunately, the lock no longer works, although the door can be closed neatly with a click system. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, which was only rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
