About the Item
Beautifully painted bridal cabinet from Germany, specifically Franconia. The cabinet has a very rustic appearance and shows plenty of character. Considering its age, this cabinet is in good condition, though there are naturally some minor signs of wear. For example, some moldings have been replaced, and the paint on the left side is quite worn. The cabinet has a warmer ochre yellow paint, and the door features tulips and the year 1815. The interior is fitted with shelves and coat hooks; more shelves can easily be added if desired. It was once customary to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a stateroom on the farm, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
