About the Item
Antique folk art wedding chest dating from 1816, from the Swabian Alb, southern Germany. This chest exudes history and is characterized by its original painting with distinctive striped motifs, typical of folk art from the region. The whole piece has a rich, weathered patina, the result of two centuries of use. This significantly contributes to the warm and distinctive appearance of this piece of furniture.
The chest has been completely inspected and professionally restored, with an eye for originality and character. The construction is solid, the painting is largely intact, and the patina has been preserved. The interior layout is still original, with one shelf and coat hooks. The chest can be locked with the original, working lock. Old, occasionally present woodworm marks have been checked and treated.
Wedding chests like this are rarely found. The patina and the way this chest is painted make it an exclusive piece of furniture.
