About the Item
An extraordinary antique bridal cabinet, personally one of my favorites currently on offer. This piece dates from 1826 and comes from Franconia, southern Germany. The cabinet is painted with a colorful striped motif throughout and features floral decorations in the panels. Above the doors is the wedding date: 1826. Considering its age, the cabinet is in very good condition, notably that part of the back has been replaced. The cabinet still has its original layout, consisting of a shelf and coat hooks. Two more shelves were added later. The original lock and key are also still present. It was customary in the past to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, which was rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
