About the Item
Beautifully painted bridal cabinet from Germany, specifically from the Swabian Alps. The cabinet has a very rustic appearance and shows plenty of character. Considering its age, this cabinet is in good condition, although there are naturally some minor signs of wear. For example, there are sporadic signs of old woodworm, which have naturally been checked again. The cabinet has a well-functioning lock with key and is fitted with shelves inside. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, which was only rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This example dates from 1830. Note the unique painting on the sides.
