About the Item
An extraordinary antique pine bridal cabinet dating from 1854. This cabinet is simply designed but beautifully painted in a grayish-blue color with fresh floral decorations in the panels. The wedding date of the previous owner is inscribed above the door. Considering its age, this example is still in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. The cabinet has a well-functioning lock with key and is fitted inside with a shelf, a sturdy rod, and coat hooks. More shelves can easily be added if desired. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this to the couple at a wedding. These pieces were later placed in a state room on the farm, rarely used for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history. This example originates from southern Germany (Bavaria).
