This is an antique secretaire cabinet. An English, mahogany chest of drawers with drop front writing desk, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800. Gracefully concealed writing desk fit for a gentleman's bedroom, writer's study or morning room Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order Select stocks shows fine grain interest throughout with superb colour Arranged as three drawers beneath the drop front upper with push button mechanism Attractive fitted interior a treat of satinwood and boxwood inlay Central door decorated with oval shell motif guarding a pair of sliding trays within Suite of small document drawers and gallery recesses, dressed with small brass pulls Dressed with a quality baize, the generous writing surface a comfortable height of 77.5cm (30.5'') Each drawer dressed with quality drop handles sitting upon decorated oval backplates Inset brass lined locks to each drawer front — untested, keys absent Dashing shaped lower apron in the manner of Sheraton Standing upon four gently tapering straight bracket feet to each corner This is a superb antique secretaire cabinet, of fine quality and attractive finish. Beautifully appointed writing interior of comfortable proportion a highlight of this example of Georgian furniture. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
