About the Item
Architects Karla Vázquez from KV and Caterina Moretti from Peca collaborated to create The Aurum Cabinets, which are sculptural works and unique pieces that aim to open honest dialogues about the objects closest to us.
Each piece was meticulously crafted using traditional artisan techniques, the talent of master craftspeople, and excellent materials. Quality materials are fundamental to the creation of this collection. Wood holds a tree’s history in its unique and irreplicable rings, much like fingerprints.
Gold, often a sacred symbol, represents the sun, mysticism, value, freedom, and immortality. The Aurum Cabinets are the same height but different dimensions. The legs can be arranged in two ways — a modular design that meets the users’ needs and delights. The boxes, delicately made. of sandblasted wood and covered with delicate 23-carat gold leaf, feature two hinged doors that can create visual symmetry or asymmetry against the wood’s x- or cross-shaped placements.
These characteristics offer a range of possibilities for the user to choose from and a variety of ways of arranging the cabinets (whether alone or in a group). They transform the environments they inhabit.
The gold generates unique light and shadows, while clean lines create visual continuity. The Aurum Cabinets were designed to contain objects and important stories. The user’s intuitions, obsessions, and desires determine the narrative. Endless possibilities arise when users explore combinations and seek one-of-a-kind sensory experiences.
