About the Item

This 19th century kitchen cabinet is known as a catbox, named for its original use in keeping cats, dogs and other household pets away from food stored within. Petite in scale, the elevated chest has two shelves and two drawers enclosed by lattice panel sides, which allowed for airflow and to easily see inside. Ideal today as a bookcase or linen chest, the small cabinet brings timeworn texture to its surroundings with patinated brass hardware and a lightly faded lacquer finish.
