About the Item

Rare Qing dynasty cabinet with original well preserved decorations. Red base lacquer with polychrome decorations, black lacquer on the sides. Top section with pair of panel doors lavishly decorated with charming decorative motifs, including flower vases, scholars' objects etc. Lower section decorated with polychrome scenery depicting a European-inspired building in the middle, presumably St. Peter's Church, surrounded by flowers and flanked by Chinese landscapes on each side. Pair of panel doors to the upper section accented with a circular metal plate. The interior bottom of the cabinet has a lower compartment for extra storage. A very decorative 'one o a kind' cabinet in original condition. Gansù province approx. 1880.
