A DAVID HICKS CHINOISERIE CABINET ON STAND
About the Item
The design is based on the 18th century Chinoiserie cabinets that were requirements for the manor houses of the 18th century England. David Hicks was famous for bridging traditional and modern in these manor houses of 1960's and 1970's England. This piece is typical of one of his designs that would act as such a bridge.
The case decoration is executed in authentic chinese lacquer with a modernized abstracted design based on the 18th century original cabinets.
The stand is constructed of welded brass with a greek key motif, a reoccurring theme in Hick's designs.
The cabinet is a good height for a bar cabinet with one adjustable shelf on the interior.
