About the Item
Spectacular modular furniture, designed by French designer Didier Rozaffy, 1960s. It consists of two distinct pieces that can be placed separately or stacked on top of each other. The design reflects the functionality and visual clarity of the modernism of that decade. It is characterized by its geometric shape, with a rectangular front and square sides. It stands on four short, narrow, square legs. The sliding glass doors are lacquered in black, white, and yellow, adding a touch of color and dynamism. Inside each module, a shelf facilitates storage.
Didier Rozaffy, pioneer of detachable and modular furniture
Didier Rozaffy is known for pioneering the concept of "Descomposable Design." He was active during the French postwar period, between 1940 and 1960. He collaborated with the French furniture company OSCAR and became a key designer in the field of functional furniture.
Due to the devastation caused by World War II, France needed to build both furniture and homes for the victims, in addition to repairing damaged infrastructure and industries. Rozaffy saw an opportunity in this context to create furniture that could be easily disassembled and assembled without the need for nails or screws. Therefore, his designs are characterized by functionality and the optimization of small spaces, as well as the fusion of architecture and furniture.
The "Commission du meuble de France" was a group of decorators, furniture makers, commercial companies, artisans, designers, and engineers whose goal was to produce furniture to enrich the lives of victims. However, Rozaffy's philosophy was that it should be disassembled so that it could be used both in space and for storage. The Oscar company, for which he worked, received the silver medal at the 10th Triennale in Milan in 1953 and was recognized for its quality.

Roche Bobois is a French company that, since its founding in 1960, has been dedicated to marketing collections of high-end furniture, sofas, and other accessories. The company was born from the union of Philippe and François Roche, owners of a boutique in Paris, and Jean-Claude and Patrick Chouchan, then owners of the Au Beau Bois store. After meeting in 1960 at the Copenhagen fair, they began manufacturing and importing Scandinavian furniture to Paris. Thus, they began selling this furniture and other accessories such as textiles, tableware, and upholstery in their boutiques. They even dedicated a floor to renovation and decoration projects. thus giving birth to the famous Roche Bobois brand.
