About the Item

Solid quarter sawn oak compact rolling file cabinet by Globe Wernicke. Circa 1900-1910. The cabinet retains the original gold decal. Globe was established in 1882 before the merger of Globe-Wernicke in 1899. globe and Globe -Wernicke produced some of the most innovative storage and filing options in the late 19th and early 20th Century here in the USA. Always using fine premium cuts of quarter sawn oak (in this case) and walnut and mahogany. This particular model is the flip top two door cabinet resting on top of the rolling stand with its original hard rubber wheels. Spectacular corner hardware. Good old finish. Clean interior and ready to use. Structurally sound and sturdy. It has minor cosmetic wear, scuffs, light scratches and a dark patina from age and use. There is a small loss above one wheel. The metal rod is missing and there is no key. The cabinet with stand measures approximately 24.5" high x 18.63" x 13.88". The interior storage measures approximately 16.5" deep x 12" wide.
