About the Item

Made in the early 1940s in New York City, this pair of cabients was designed by Florence Knoll, widely regarded today as one of the most prolfic Knoll designers. Initially getting her start working under Eero Saarinen and the Eames, she was responsible for the interiors at nearly all NYC based Knoll showrooms. This model is one of her earliest and most recognizable designs. Each cabinet features solid maple construction throughout, with maple sides, tops, and frames. Even the legs are solid turned maple. No metal whatsoever was used, only held together with glue and joinery. This design also features the now-iconic louvered drawerfronts, making it immediately recognizable as a Florence design. Stylish, practical, and iconic, these dressers work nearly anywhere you could think to put them. In very good condition. In some areas, I've replaced chipped wood where it had been lost after 70 years of use. These have been professionally refinished, bringing out their true color and grain. This involves a multi-step process of stripping, and three coats of finish, including stain, clear, and burnishing. The result is a color and grain that pops and draws the eye. You will love the condition of these cabinets
