About the Item

A Figured Walnut Veneered Prie-dieu, Italian Circa 1700 The walnut prie-dieu with canted corners and panelled with burred walnut, the moulded plank top giving way to a single frieze centred by a brass escutcheon and flanked by two knobs above a moulded ledge, descending to middle section comprised of a further three drawers with conforming escutcheons and knob handles. Below the angled and lidded kneeling surface atop the lowermost compartment, a further brass escutcheon and moulded skirting. Height: 84 cm Width: 54 cm Depth: 44 cm. Provenance: Private Australian Collection.
