About the Item

An impressive and exceptional quality French 19th century Belle Époque period Louis XVI st. Tulipwood, Kingwood, Sévres Porcelain, Ormolu, and white Carrara marble cabinet. This stunning cabinet is raised on square feet highlighted with fluted sabots below quarter veneered block corners flanking the arbalest shaped apron. An intricately detailed foliate band accents the top of the base on three sides and supports large scale acanthus leaves which lead up column like supports with beaded bands and showcasing elegant caryatids above. At the center are two impressive quarter veneered doors displaying most wonderful recessed panels set within foliate Ormolu frames with scrolled corner mounts and central Sévres porcelain plaques. Each exceptional plaque in the manner of Francois Boucher depicts charming summer time scenes of classical figures having a picnic and playing games. Each plaque is set within a foliate decorated Ormolu frame with a tied ribbon above. Leading up the center of the doors is a stunning and richly chased intertwining foliate band which is centered by a conceal escutcheon and original key. The doors up on to reveal the quarter veneered interior,one shelf, the original top to bottom lock, and hardware. A fluted band with overlapping acanthus leaves accents the top of the doors and introduces the two top secret drawers which open via a concealed mechanism. Each drawer is decorated with four Sévres Porcelain plaques displaying beautiful hand painted bouquets of colorful flowers. Above is an impressive Les Oves band that supports the white Carrara marble top that follows the shape of the cabinet.
