About the Item

A handsome and high quality French 19th century Empire st. Mahogany, Ormolu and Fossilized marble cabinet. This wonderful demi lune shaped cabinet is raised on four Mahogany block feet supporting the D shaped apron. At the center are two most exquisitely curved flame Mahogany doors accented with Ormolu keyhole escutcheons in the shape of an urn with flowers. The interlocking doors are designed to hold their shape, and open to reveal a single interior shelf. The doors are flanked by cylindrical Mahogany columns supported on Ormolu plinths and finished with palmette accented capitals. Above is the single drawer continuing the flame Mahogany grain and showcasing a richly chased key escutcheon of maidens in flowing garments holding a scrolled garland. The cabinet is finished with a fossilized marble top which follows the shape of the cabinet.
