About the Item
A spectacular French 19th century Louis XIV st. ebony, brass and ormolu cabinet, in the manner of A.C. Boulle. The exquisite cabinet is raised by elegant arched shaped supports with fine brass fillets and a central foliate reserve. The two central doors display a stunning array of intricately detailed intertwined berried laurel and scrolled foliate designs with elegant ormolu rosettes, eagles, acanthus leaf keyhole escutcheons and striking ormolu block rosettes at each corner in a rich satin and burnished finish. The doors open to reveal all the original impressive hardware, lock and the two original adjustable ebony shelves with a fine decorative double inlaid brass fillet at the front. Each side panel is decorated in the same manner as the front with additional stunning scrolled foliate brass inlaid designs. A beautiful ormolu band with a fine egg and dart design extends along the top crown with an intricately designed and most decorative mirrored Vitruvian scrolled brass inlaid band and central foliate reserve. The French polished top showcases the beautiful ebony wood grain. All original gilt throughout.
