About the Item
A striking French 19th century Louis XVI st. kingwood and ormolu and marble cabinet. The cabinet is raised by elegant topie shaped legs with fine ormolu sabots and a tied reeded band top cap. At the center are two sliding doors with a wonderfully veneered herringbone pattern which open to reveal one interior shelf. Each side displays beautiful quarter veneered and the frieze displays two drawers with fine berried laurel ormolu pulls and a central richly chased pierced foliate ormolu mount, above a tied reeded ormolu band. Above is the original Brèche Violette marble top following the contour of the cabinet within an exceptional and most decorative pierced Greek key designed ormolu gallery.
