About the Item
A charming and most elegant French 19th century Transitional st. Tulipwood, Kingwood ormolu and Brèche d'Alep marble Bonheur du Jour cabinet. The Bonheur du Jour, which translates to joy of the day, is raised by superb cabriole legs with fine ormolu foliate fitted sabots and striking richly chased scrolled foliate corner mounts. Each leg is connected by a beautiful bottom tier with stunning wonderfully executed exotic wood floral marquetry designs. The apron displays one drawer with exceptional geometric interlocking designs also repeated on each side. The top displays lovely accordion doors with an outstanding veneered herringbone design with striking quarter veneered panels at each side while above is the original fitted Brèche d'Alep marble top framed within an elegant pierced wrap around the gallery. All original gilt throughout.
