About the Item
A beautiful and extremely elegant French 19th century Transitional st. Mahogany, ormolu and Brocatelle Violette marble cabinet circa 1860. The two door cabinet is raised by slender cabriole legs with beautiful fitted scrolled acanthus leaf sabots and corner mounts. Above the scalloped shaped apron and at each side are mottled and fluted ormolu bands framing the bottom open storage area. The two doors retain their original fitted mirror plates framed within a fine beaded and foliate ormolu border with concave corners and lovely richly chased rosettes and open to reveal the original hardware. The elegantly curved sides display a recessed panel and fine beaded ormolu trim. Above is the original Brocatelle Violette marble top framed within a lovely pierced wrap around gallery. All original gilt throughout.
