About the Item

This is an old Japanese cabinet called a tansu. It is made of cedar and is thought to date from the Edo or Meiji period. The doors have a simple, unified design, with vertical bars on the top and horizontal bars on the bottom. The matte black finish blends well with modern spaces. Because it has been used next to the hearth for many years, some parts have naturally become blackened with soot, which also creates a nice atmosphere. Scratches and wear over time further enhance the overall harmony of the cabinet, giving it a unique presence. It can be used not only as a cabinet, but also as a sideboard for displaying vases and ceramics. The lower sliding door has a drawer inside. The unique appearance, which has gradually changed over the years through careful use and care, exudes a harmonious, natural beauty that cannot be reproduced with modern paints. This is a one-of-a-kind, irreplaceable piece. Weight: 65.2 kg
