About the Item
This is a large antique Tansu chest from Japan, crafted during the Meiji period (1860s–1900s). Made with Japanese cedar and finished with great care, it has endured for over a century while retaining a strong presence that reflects both the craftsmanship and aesthetic sensibilities of its time.
The design embodies pure simplicity, stripped of all excess. The front is fitted with wooden sliding doors, presenting a dignified expression while also conveying warmth.
