About the Item

A large 19th century French cabinet or buffet à deux corps made of solid oak wood. The oak body stands on 6 feet and is panelled on the sides, consisting of a lower and upper cabinet, with a total of 8 doors in frame and panelled construction, hung on large external brackets, as well as 4 drawers. One double door is flanked by 2 single doors. Decorative star and thread inlays below the moulded cornice on the front. Original hinges and fittings. The drawer handles in particular are of exceptionally high quality and skilfully crafted. Inside, the cabinet is fitted with several shelves. Dimensions Height: 95 cm (base cabinet) or 236 cm (total) / 37.4 inch (base cabinet) or 92.91 inch (total). Width: 300 cm / 118.11 inch. Depth: 44 cm or 64 cm / 17.32 inch or 25.19 inch. Shelf depth: 37 cm (14.56 inch) / 56 cm (22.04 inch). Very good condition with slight signs of age-related wear. The surface has been cleaned and re-waxed. The old oak wood has a very nice warm patina. The cabinet can be transported in 3 parts (lower part, upper part, headboard) plus the removable shelves and detachable doors.
