Large Early 20th Century German Gothic Revival Sacristy Cabinet

About the Item

A Gothic Revival sacristy cabinet from the 1920s/30s. The piece of furniture comes from the sacristy of the Brandts Chapel of St. Aloysius in Mönchengladbach. High-quality oak wood. Richly decorated and carved. The cabinet consists of a central section with a top flanked by two single-door side sections. The lower cupboard of the middle section has two doors with three drawers above. Behind the doors, which can be locked with a bar lock, there are 5 drawers that can be pulled out far to the front via the runners on the inside of the doors. Originally, the vestments were stored there, for example. The top with a triangular pediment flanked by pinnacles and decorated with carved crabs has an open central compartment flanked by two small doors. The piece of furniture is crowned by a carved finial. The two single-door cabinet sections on the right and left can be fitted with either clothes rails or shelves on the inside. Two carved half-columns on high pedestals flank the doors. All door panels are decorated with carved Gothic folding or blind tracery. The sides of the cupboards are also coffered. Dimensions: 208 cm/ 273 cm (top) high, 330 cm wide, 66 cm deep. Inside dimensions: The dimensions of the table in the middle: 57,5 cm deep and 137 cm wide, .The 3 small drawers under the table: 54,5 cm deep and 36,7 cm wide, The 5 drawers behind the doors under the table: 52,7 cm deep and 84 cm wide, Behind each door on the left and the right: 51,5 cm deep and 84 cm wide. Due to the usual depth of sacristy cabinets, the piece of furniture was elaborately shortened in depth in our workshop in addition to the surface refurbishment. The cabinet can be transported in 4 separate parts (incl. or plus doors, drawers etc.).
