An exquisite looking and very well-made piece, the whole unit is ornately carved from top to bottom, the top cabinet has huge metal hinges and a massive lock, the hinges are surrounded by foliage carvings which extenuate the metalwork, the sides have the traditional campaign handles. Inside you find further carvings and pretty much the largest hand hammed drop leaf hinge I have ever seen, the central cabinet has a renaissance looking figure under a domed canopy with a crown on the top, there are seven main drawers and one hidden small side drawer as pictured
The base is carved absolutely everywhere with additional oversized metal work, there are twin pull supports for the drop front panel, it really is a work of art
We have lightly cleaned waxed and polished it, the piece is in very fine order with a genuine period patina.
