About the Item

A highly unusual Anglo-Indian carved ebony campaign chest in three sections, circa 1850. The upper cabinet features deeply carved foliate and vine motifs framing a pair of arched glazed doors, above four drawers fitted with recessed brass campaign pulls. The piece rests on block feet with carved borders along the base and cornice. The dark finish shows an appealing aged surface consistent with use and travel, characteristic of 19th-century colonial workmanship.
