About the Item
Bar cabinet by Alfred Hendrickx
Made in Bubinga and beech wood.
The bubinga is veneered on plywood.
The bar cabinet dates from 1958. Can be seen on the original mirror ( which we replaced because of to many scratches and losses).
The original mirror, at that time, was always dated.
It's in a overall good condition, some wear and scratches on the wood.
The hinch has had a repair, but is still working.
Alfred Hendrickx is one of Belgium's greatest furniture dsigners of the 1950 an 1960's. He was engaged by the Van Fleeteren company in Mechelen to create a new modern line.
In the beginning Van Fleeteren created only classical furniture, but with Hendricks, a new line was created: BELFORM.
Under that name, the creations of Hendrickx were put in the market and with a lot of succes.
Many lowboards in exotic wood and complete dining sets were created by Hendrickx.
Also he's the one who created all the iconic furniture for the departure hall of Sabena, at that time the belgian air company.
