Handsome Mid-Century Modern gun cabinet comprised of walnut with brass sabots and locking mechanism. Gorgeous vintage condition, one of the lower skirts on the base has some rippling due to moisture sometime in its life but it does not distract from it’s over all beauty. Please see photos. Circa 20th Century. “My gun safe is too big.” Said no gun enthusiast EVER…. This Mid-Century Modern walnut and brass gun cabinet is the hunter, collector, or firearm enthusiasts DREAM!! The quality and detail on this gun cabinet is so magnificent that we are sure it was made for a specific collection of guns by a professional carpenter or cabinet maker. First, when you open the large double doors there is no interior divider, just a wide-open storage area with 20 slots for the butt of your rifles and supports above for barrel security. The slots are specific sizes, but they can be easily adjusted for your firearms or the whole unit can be removed by three screws and it would leave a flat bottom. There are no pulls or door hardware on the large double doors, only a brass keyhole which is how the cabinet doors open. And just look at these beautiful solid walnut doors and there is no chance they will sag since they have full length piano hinges! The whole unit stands on handsome Mid-Century Modern legs with brass sabots and below the double doors are four drawers that open for the perfect place to store your smaller firearms and ammunition. And all four corners inside the cabinet have climate control vents with sliding wood vent covers so you can adjust temperature at your preference…. So, love this gun cabinet but you’re not a gun lover? That’s ok!! Although this cabinet has been completely customized for specific firearms, it is easily repurposed for other uses. As we stated, three screws will remove the slot unit and leave a flat bottom and you could add shelves inside and it would convert to storing anything. Customize it to hold POOL ques and games for your family game room! Or, because it has the climate control vents, it would make a wonderful humidor for your man cave or a liquor cabinet for your den! You could add a hanging rod and use it as an armoire or linen storage…possibilities are endless! And the whole bottom of the cabinet will screw apart from the top so it will break down for shipping purposes. Very rare antique closet dating from the Rococo period of the 1700s, made of walnut wood with brass details, very elegant, fine Italian manufacture. The antique closet is totally made of the finest walnut wood. The base is supported by 4 square feet, placed diagonally, which create a very fine angle. Their workmanship is reminiscent of that of capitals, given the curly detail present on each of them. The wooden base supports the central body of the cabinet composed of a clear glass display case, set into the wood. On the frame is a brass lock. Inside the display case we find a storage space also complete with two drawers below. A brass bar in patina is present. The centerpiece of the closet is its top: it is finely crafted through shapely and sinuous decorations. There are 4 ornamental capitals, one for each corner of the cabinet, also placed diagonally. This piece has been attributed based upon its stamped mark, archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There are a couple of small darker spots on the top. A broken leg has been repaired and we have touched up some nicks & dings. Fresh coat of Danish oil applied. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Also… YES!!! Talk about versatility overload!! This is a phenomenal low cabinet model #394 by Kai Kristiansen for Aksel Kjersgaard Odder. It is comprised of a gorgeous teak frame with stunning wood grain, straight square legs, and four drawers featuring 2 double recessed half-moon handles. The top drawers open from the bottom, and the bottom drawers open from the top! It’s a simple but oh-so-stunning detail. This is an INCREDIBLE cabinet and it’s bursting with versatility, impeccable style, and ample storage. It could be used as a wonderful low dresser for lingerie or other delicate items in a bedroom, a fantastic sideboard, credenza, console, or media cabinet in a living or dining area. Maybe a marvelous low bench cabinet in a hall or entry, or in any room that needs a touch of quintessential Scandinavian Modern flair. It’s EXACTLY what the designer ordered! Kai Kristiansen was born in 1929 in Denmark.
