About the Item

This exceptional French Art Deco sideboard, manufactured in the 1930s, combines deep black lacquer with finely figured Bird’s-eye Maple burl veneer—an elegant and characteristic material pairing of the period. Its clean horizontal lines, rounded edges and chrome-plated details give the piece a distinctly Streamline Art Deco presence, echoing the aerodynamic aesthetics that shaped late 1930s French modernism. Originating from private Parisian ownership, it reflects the refined cabinetmaking traditions of interwar France through its balanced proportions and subtle architectural clarity. The sideboard has been professionally refinished, with a new high-quality lacquer carefully applied to recover its original visual impact while preserving the warmth and integrity of the burl veneer. The interior offers smooth and ample storage, and the overall condition is excellent. Its rare use of high-grade burl, precise restoration and Parisian provenance make it a valuable and collectible example of French Streamline Art Deco design.
