About the Item
Oval pedestal cabinet from the Late Empire period, crafted in Copenhagen around 1820–30.
This elegant piece is veneered in walnut and adorned with bookmatched walnut burl on the door, creating a striking and harmonious symmetry in the wood grain.
Fine ebony stringing and trim add a refined contrast to the warm walnut tones. The original brass key escutcheon is preserved.
The design is characteristic of the Late Empire’s aesthetic and elegance, with clean lines and restrained ornamentation that would later inspire the Art Deco style of the 1920s.
