About the Item

An exceptional and most decorative pair of French 18th century Regence Period Kingwood, Ormolu and Rouge Belge Marble encoignure cabinets. Each unique corner cabinet is raised by most elegant cabriole feet fitted with Ormolu sabots leading up to an arbalest shaped apron centered by an Ormolu foliate reserve. The cabinets are enclosed by double doors of quarter book matched Kingwood veneer adorned on the corners by Ormolu seashell and foliate scrolled mounts and matching Ormolu keyhole escutcheons. The interior features one shelf separating an open compartment on the bottom, and a locked compartment above. The original Rouge Belge Marble tops are hand carved to follow the curvature of the cabinets, and are finished with bullnosed ogee edges.
