About the Item

Pair of Georgian style mahogany cabinet stands English, 19th Century Height 110cm, width 60cm, depth 55cm Each mahogany cabinet in this pair is crafted in the style popular during the reign of George III, namely a refined classicism. Each unit, rectangular in form, can function as both a cabinet and a pedestal—the flat top of each cabinet serving as an ideal platform upon which to place an antique piece. Each cabinet encompasses a large cupboard containing a shelf, the door of which features carved foliage motifs. Above the cabinet is a drawer, the front of which is fluted. The top of the cabinet is raised by a concave step, the interior of which is formed with a frieze of acanthus leaves, further emphasising the classicism of the pair.
