Qing Dynasty 19th Century Compound Cabinet with Brass Hardware
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Chinese Qing Dynasty period compound cabinet from the 19th century, with four doors, hidden drawers and brass medallions. Created in China during the Qing dynasty, this compound cabinet features a smaller chest stacked on top of a regular sized cabinet. Compound cabinets were used for storage. The top would contain out of season clothing while the main cabinet would be used as a wardrobe for everyday use including bedding and clothes for the season. The cabinet showcases a natural finish perfectly complimenting its linear silhouette. The main section's doors open thanks to a traditional brass medallion with teardrop pulls and petite key, to reveal inner shelves and hidden drawers offering great storage opportunities, while the ensemble is raised on straight feet connected to one another through an apron on three sides. With its clean lines and natural patina, this 19th century Qing Dynasty Chinese compound cabinet...
